The diagnosis

The best keywords were not indexed at all.

We took over in June. Before anything was spent, the first job was finding out what the account was not eligible to show for.

A high-potential keyword the listing does not index for is not a ranking problem or a bidding problem. The listing simply is not in the auction. You can spend heavily against it and see nothing back. So the sequence was keyword research first, then listing work to index for what was missing, and only then ads.

Month one +37%, month two +69%, ACOS held at 10% throughout, conversion rate up 85%.
Three months, four numbers.
Business Reports sales and traffic trend from April to August 2025, ordered product sales and total order items plotted against baseline. Flat and slightly negative through June, then rising to about +75% by August.

Ads

Low-competition keywords first, not the obvious ones.

The instinct on a new account is to bid on the biggest terms in the category. That is the fastest way to spend a month's budget proving you cannot win them yet.

10%ACOS, throughout

Low-competition terms convert cheaply, and the sales they produce feed rank on the terms that matter next. August closed at $56,079 against July's $33,178, on $1,604 of ad spend. Ten percent ACOS while revenue is growing is the number other sellers do not believe, and it comes from choosing a surface you can actually win rather than from clever bid management.

Same product, same price, same traffic. Doubling click-through and nearly doubling conversion through creative changes what every keyword in the account is worth, which is why it lands before the spend goes up rather than after.

Off-marketplace

TikTok Shop videos went viral. Branded search on Amazon followed.

The influencer campaigns were run for TikTok Shop's own sales. The side effect was the more valuable half: as videos took off, branded keyword search volume on Amazon rose, and the Amazon account got a lift nobody bid for. Demand created off the marketplace does not stay on the channel that created it.
